I can tell already that I’m going to need snow tires for the winter. I figured I’d get them now since the prices are (maybe?) lower.
But I also want them on a dedicated set of wheels so I can get a narrower tire and a thicker sidewall, which brings me to color.
I’m a big fan of the Sparco Terra wheels in white, but I’m not certain how that would look on a silver car. Any suggestions?

Bronze/brass/brown!
Not black. That looks ugly.

Lately I’ve grown tired of black rims, too many cars have them, but I think they still look great on silver cars. I don’t think I would go with white. Black wheels with a silver lip maybe?

those sparcos weigh a crap load.
I like enkeis.

I’m going to go against popular opinion here. I’m not a fan of mixing metallic. So silver car I’d say dark grey wheels. Black is nice but kind of played out. But that’s just me.

thoughts on the durability of enki’s with potholes?

what size were you thinking 16, 17?
what is the lug pattern? 5x114.5?
offset?
width?

Red. No question.

Pink.
And put an I <3 Boobies ribbon on the trunk.

agree - silver on silver, (but NO black paint shadows) - those Enkeis are fabulous looking

You can put different rims on your car on the tire rack website. And then there’s the picture thread over at the GT86 forums.

Tire Rack’s thingamabob doesn’t have the right shade of silver.

steelies. either black or some obnoxious color

You say that, but Tire Rack does have pink wheels.

Don’t like the weight of steelies. Even on my massive off-road truck I could feel the difference in rotational mass.

See now you have to give me a picture to convince me, because I’m not sure I’m feeling the red.

Not a big fan of spindly wheels like that, in general.
Also, given Pennsylvania roads, especially in winter, a sturdy wheel might be best. I’ve had several “lightweight” aftermarket wheels that folded like paper. From reputable brands, even! (VMR in one case, because that’s the only wheel you’re allowed to put on a BMW)

16’s, and I don’t know any of that other stuff. If I were going outside of tire rack I’d get it, but as it stands it’s not terribly necessary.

winter time means drift all the time so it wont matter :)

I really dislike black wheels. They inevitably blend into the tire and just look weird. A lighter shade like gunmetal or anthracite works better, usually.

I’m a big fan of bronze wheels, but I’m not sure how well it would look on silver.
GIS tells me it might not look so bad.
Part of the problem is really that I just dislike having a silver car.

Facing the same dilemma with my recently acquired Mazda3. Silver on silver is just an unflattering combo.

That’s almost more of a gray, though.

Sort of - the description said “matte silver” - sort of moots the point. But I still like the red. Hell, you could plasti-dip your current wheels and, if you didn’t like it, get another color.

I think this would all depend on your bolt pattern, back spacing and offset.. once you figure these out, then search for a wheel. Once this has been found, then search for those snow/winter tires.. I think the Sparco wheels have proven themselves on and off the track.. but it the right or best wheel for the limited time you going to use them in the snow.. Hardly. I don’t regret buying the Grey Sparco wheels. But I do regret the size tires we selected. One thing I’ve seen is using steel wheels and simply painting them with plasti-dip. Just keep it simple, and invest in a good set of snow tires..
